Additional Info

Accommodation and Living Conditions

This expedition offers a unique blend of modern comfort and authentic nomadic life. To ensure a pleasant journey, please familiarize yourself with the accommodation styles you will experience:

1. Hotels (Bishkek & Osh)

  • Standard: 3-4* or cozy boutique hotels.

  • Amenities: Modern rooms with private bathrooms (shower/toilet), Wi-Fi, and air conditioning.

  • Room Type: Standard double/twin occupancy.

2. Yurt Camps (Son-Kul, Tulpar-Kul, Murdash)

A yurt is a traditional nomadic dwelling made of felt and wood. It is the most authentic and eco-friendly way to stay in the high mountains.

  • Occupancy: Usually 3–4 people per yurt (2-person occupancy may be available depending on group size and camp capacity).

  • Heating: High-altitude nights can be cold. Each yurt is equipped with a small wood-burning stove ("burzhuika"), which guides or camp staff will light in the evening and early morning.

  • Facilities: Toilets and washbasins are located in separate structures within the camp area. Camps at Son-Kul and Tulpar-Kul usually provide a shower or a "banya" (steam room) with a limited supply of hot water.

  • Electricity: Available only in the evenings via generators or solar panels. We strongly recommend bringing a Power Bank.

3. Guesthouses (Kazarman, Murdash)

These are local family homes that have been modified to host international travelers.

  • Atmosphere: A great way to immerse yourself in local culture and hospitality.

  • Amenities: Showers and toilets may be located inside the house or on the floor (shared between 2-3 rooms).

  • Dining: Home-cooked meals prepared with fresh, local farm products.

Meals and Dining

  • Board: Full Board (Breakfast, Lunch/Picnic, Dinner).

  • Cuisine: A mix of Central Asian and European dishes. Standard meals include Plov, Lagman, Manti, and Shorpo. There is always an abundance of fresh bread (lepeshka), honey, jams, and dried fruits.

  • Dietary Needs: If you are vegetarian or have specific food allergies, please inform us in advance so we can adapt the menu for you.

  • Water: We provide a supply of bottled water throughout the trip. Fresh, drinkable spring water is also available in the mountains.

Connectivity

  • Cities & Towns: High-speed internet and mobile signals are excellent in Bishkek, Osh, and Kochkor.

  • Highlands: There is no mobile signal or internet in remote areas like Son-Kul and the Pamir mountain passes. This is a perfect opportunity for a "digital detox."
