Welcome to Kyrgyzstan! Upon arrival at Manas International Airport, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Bishkek.

After time to rest and refresh, we will take an easy introductory walk through the city center. We will visit Ala-Too Square, Oak Park and some of Bishkek’s main landmarks while your guide introduces you to Kyrgyzstan, its history and the journey ahead.

The evening is free to relax or discover one of Bishkek’s local restaurants. Your guide will be happy to recommend a place depending on your preferences.

Driving: ~35 km / 45–60 min
Activity: Easy city walk
Accommodation: Hotel in Bishkek
Meals: Not included

DAY 2 — BISHKEK → CHON-KEMIN VALLEY | INTO THE MOUNTAINS

Chon Kemin valley

After breakfast, we leave Bishkek and begin our journey into the mountains of northern Kyrgyzstan.

Our destination is Chon-Kemin Valley — a peaceful mountain region surrounded by forests, pastures and snow-capped peaks. After arriving at our guest house and having lunch, there will be time to explore the valley on foot.

For those who would like to spend more time outdoors, an optional horseback ride can be arranged through the surrounding countryside.

This is our first taste of rural Kyrgyzstan and a relaxed introduction to the landscapes that will accompany us throughout the journey.

Driving: ~150 km / 2.5–3 hrs
Activity: Easy walk; optional horseback riding
Accommodation: Guest house in Chon-Kemin
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 3 — CHON-KEMIN → KOK-MOINOK CANYONS → SON-KUL LAKE | FIRST HIGH-ALTITUDE ADVENTURE

Yaks in tien Shan mountains

Today the landscape changes dramatically as we leave the green Chon-Kemin Valley and head toward the high mountains of central Kyrgyzstan.

Our first stop is Kok-Moinok, where a short walk takes us through a maze of dry clay formations and narrow canyon walls — a striking contrast to the alpine landscapes ahead.

From here, we continue toward Son-Kul, climbing the spectacular Kalmak-Ashuu Pass at 3,446 m. The road opens onto a vast high-altitude plateau surrounded by mountains, with Son-Kul Lake lying at its heart at 3,016 m above sea level.

We arrive at our yurt camp in the afternoon. There is time to walk along the lakeshore, meet local families and simply enjoy the silence and enormous open landscape before dinner.

Tonight we experience one of Kyrgyzstan’s essential traditions — sleeping in a yurt beside Son-Kul.

Driving: ~300 km / 5–6 hrs
Highest point: Kalmak-Ashuu Pass — 3,446 m
Activity: Easy canyon walk and lakeside walk
Accommodation: Yurt camp at Son-Kul, 2 guests per yurt
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4 — SON-KUL → 33 PARROTS PASS → NARYN → KOK-KIYA | INTO THE REMOTE SOUTH

Pass 33 Parrots

After breakfast at Son-Kul, we descend from the high plateau via the famous 33 Parrots Pass, one of the most photogenic mountain roads in Kyrgyzstan.

We continue to Naryn, the main town of central Kyrgyzstan, where we stop for lunch before heading much farther south toward the Chinese border.

From here, the journey becomes increasingly remote. We cross wide valleys and high-altitude landscapes with very few settlements as we enter the border zone leading toward Kel-Suu.

By evening we reach Kok-Kiya Valley, our base for tomorrow’s journey to Kel-Suu. Accommodation here is simple and remote, but the setting is extraordinary — surrounded by mountains and far from the usual tourist routes.

Driving: ~300–330 km / 6–7 hrs
Highest point: Mountain roads above 3,000 m
Activity: Scenic overland journey / short stops
Accommodation: Eco guest house or yurt in Kok-Kiya
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 5 — KEL-SUU HORSEBACK ADVENTURE → NARYN | FROM THE WILDERNESS BACK TO COMFORT

kel suu lake

Today we explore one of the most remote and spectacular destinations in Kyrgyzstan — Kel-Suu Lake.

After breakfast, we set out on horseback through the high-altitude Kok-Kiya Valley toward Kel-Suu. The trail leads through a vast mountain landscape surrounded by steep rocky peaks, with almost no signs of civilization along the way.

Located at approximately 3,500 meters above sea level, Kel-Suu is hidden between dramatic cliffs close to the Chinese border. Once at the lake, we have time to walk along the shore, enjoy the scenery and take photographs.

Depending on the season, water level and weather conditions, an optional boat trip deeper into the lake may also be available.

After exploring Kel-Suu, we ride back to Kok-Kiya and return to our guest house, where a hot lunch will be waiting for us.

After lunch, we say goodbye to the remote border region and begin our drive to Naryn. By evening, we arrive in the city and check into our hotel, where we can enjoy a comfortable room and a well-deserved hot shower after two days in the high mountains.

Horse riding: Approx. 3–4 hours total
Altitude: Kel-Suu — approx. 3,500 m
Activity: Moderate horseback riding and walking
Accommodation: Hotel in Naryn
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 6 — NARYN → AK-SAY CANYONS → EAGLE HUNTING → BOKONBAEVO | FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO ISSYK-KUL

Ak Say Canyons

After breakfast at the hotel, we leave Naryn and begin our journey toward Issyk-Kul, the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan and one of the natural highlights of the country.

As we descend from the mountains of the Naryn region, the landscape gradually changes until the blue waters of Issyk-Kul appear ahead of us.

Our first major stop is the Ak-Say Canyons on the southern shore of the lake. Here, wind and water have shaped the dry landscape into a maze of unusual clay formations, narrow passages and panoramic viewpoints overlooking Issyk-Kul.

We take an easy walk through the canyon and, depending on the weather, have time to relax by the lakeshore.

Later, we meet a traditional Kyrgyz eagle hunter, or berkutchi. During a private demonstration, we learn about the centuries-old nomadic tradition of hunting with golden eagles and see how these remarkable birds are trained and cared for.

By evening, we arrive in Bokonbaevo, a small town on the quieter southern shore of Issyk-Kul, where we check into our guest house and enjoy dinner.

Driving: Naryn → Southern Issyk-Kul → Bokonbaevo
Activity: Easy–moderate canyon walk & eagle hunting demonstration
Accommodation: Traditional Guest House in Bokonbaevo
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 7 — BOKONBAEVO → SKAZKA CANYON → BARSKOON → ARABEL PLATEAU → JETI-OGUZ → KARAKOL

FROM DESERT CANYONS TO THE HIGH TIAN SHAN

Today is one of the most diverse days of the entire journey, taking us from the shore of Issyk-Kul to almost 4,000 m in the Tian Shan mountains.

Our first stop is Skazka — the “Fairy Tale” Canyon. Wind and erosion have created a maze of red and orange formations overlooking Issyk-Kul, and we take an easy walk through its most interesting sections.

We then continue toward Barskoon Valley and climb into the mountains toward the Arabel Plateau. The landscape changes completely as forests give way to a vast high-altitude world of glaciers, rivers and open tundra.

After returning from the plateau, we continue east toward Jeti-Oguz, famous for its red sandstone formations known as the Seven Bulls and the Broken Heart.

In the evening we reach Karakol, where we enjoy a traditional dinner with a local Dungan family — an introduction to the culture and cuisine of one of Kyrgyzstan's most distinctive communities.

Driving: Long driving day with multiple scenic stops
Highest point: Arabel Plateau — approx. 3,800 m
Activity: Easy–moderate walks
Accommodation: Hotel in Karakol
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 8 — KARAKOL → ALTYN-ARASHAN → KARAKOL | 4×4 MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE & HOT SPRINGS

Altyn Arashan Gorge

After breakfast, we drive to Ak-Suu village, where we change to a local 4×4 vehicle for one of the most adventurous mountain roads of the journey.

The rough track climbs through the spectacular Arashan Gorge to Altyn-Arashan, an alpine valley located at approximately 2,600 m and surrounded by forest, mountain rivers and snow-covered peaks.

We spend several hours in the valley, with time for a walk through the surrounding landscape and a relaxing visit to the natural hot springs. On clear days, the distinctive Palatka Peak dominates the upper valley and creates one of the classic mountain views of eastern Kyrgyzstan.

In the afternoon, we descend the same mountain road by 4×4 and return to Karakol. The evening is free to rest after an active day in the mountains.

4×4: Ak-Suu ↔ Altyn-Arashan
Altitude: ~2,600 m
Activity: Moderate — short hiking & hot springs
Accommodation: Hotel in Karakol
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 9 — KARAKOL → TROUT FARM → SEMENOV & GRIGORIEV GORGES → CHOLPON-ATA | THE GREEN SIDE OF ISSYK-KUL

Today we leave Karakol and begin exploring the northern side of Issyk-Kul.

Our first stop is a local trout farm, where we enjoy freshly prepared fish for lunch before continuing into the mountains.

In the afternoon, we explore the neighboring Semenov and Grigoriev Gorges. Green alpine meadows, spruce forests, mountain rivers and grazing horses create a striking contrast with the dry canyons of Issyk-Kul's southern shore.

Depending on weather and road conditions, we can travel between the two valleys using the mountain road connecting them, stopping for short walks and panoramic views along the way.

Later in the afternoon, we return to the lakeshore and continue to Cholpon-Ata.

After checking into our hotel, the evening is free to relax and enjoy the northern shore of Issyk-Kul.

Activity: Easy walks and scenic mountain stops
Accommodation: Hotel / Beach Resort in Cholpon-Ata
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 10 — CHOLPON-ATA → PETROGLYPHS → BISHKEK | ANCIENT HISTORY & RETURN TO THE CAPITAL

After breakfast, we visit the open-air Petroglyph Museum of Cholpon-Ata.

Spread across a large field beneath the Tien Shan mountains, the site contains ancient rock carvings created by the peoples who lived around Issyk-Kul thousands of years ago. Your guide will introduce you to some of the most interesting images and explain what they tell us about the region's early cultures and nomadic traditions.

We then leave Issyk-Kul and begin our journey back to Bishkek.

After arrival and check-in at the hotel, we visit Osh Bazaar, one of the capital's most colorful markets. It is a good place to experience everyday local life and shop for final souvenirs, spices, dried fruits and traditional felt products.

The evening is free. You can relax at the hotel or choose one of Bishkek's many restaurants for your final dinner in Kyrgyzstan.

Activity: Easy walking
Accommodation: Hotel in Bishkek
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Dinner: Not included

Day 11: Bishkek — Departure

After breakfast, your driver will meet you at the hotel for your private transfer to Manas International Airport according to your flight schedule.

Our 11-day journey across Kyrgyzstan comes to an end — from the high-altitude shores of Son-Kul and remote Kel-Suu to the canyons, mountains and blue waters of Issyk-Kul.

We hope you leave Kyrgyzstan with great memories, new experiences and a deeper understanding of the country's landscapes, people and nomadic culture.
